Network rehabilitation is necessary to maintain and optimise the performance of a distribution system.
A clear strategy for mains rehabilitation is needed to ensure that statutory regulatory obligations of water quality and supply security are satisfied and the most cost effective benefits are realised.
G2C provide key support on the development and utilisation of such strategies by collecting and analysing the relevant data streams required such as:
- Operating pressure
- Pipe condition assessment
- Burst frequency
- Water quality
- Leakage quantification
From the above, least cost engineering solutions can be identified in order to provide a robust mandate for capital investment.
G2C are also able to offer clients non destructive structural pipe condition surveys through the latest technology advancements. This work will be Project Managed by G2C and carried out by one of our leading partners specifically chosen to suit those requirements of the customer.
The system has proven effective in delaying capital investment and provides a detailed pre-assessment survey of specific assets proposed for a mains rehabilitation programme.

Leak detection is principally carried out utilising high resolution acoustics technology from world leading suppliers .
Effective Project Management techniques combined with an ongoing training and assessment programme enable us to deliver specialist and large scale contract management of leak detection projects.
Our expertise in business process efficiency enables us to advise clients on the optimum and most cost effective systems for controlling reactive leakage and planning a proactive leakage control campaign.
The leak detection process is focussed on key stages comprising DMA Audit, Leak Localising, Location and Pinpoint.
Techniques include waste tests, step tests, noise logging, correlation, correlating noise logger surveys, ground microphone and hydrophone surveys.
G2C is at the forefront of new technology working with many manufacturers and universities in the development of new technology.
Trunk Mains Leak Detection
G2C is able to offer a total solution to trunk main management.
Preliminary services include installation of large diameter flow meters, insertion probes, ultrasonic flow meters along with risk assessments and preparation of contingency plans.
Analysis and flow balances can also be undertaken to ensure prioritisation of leak detection resources, sustainable capital investment and operational solutions.
Leak detection can be undertaken using a series of techniques based on principles of step testing, correlation using specialist correlators, ground microphone surveys and hydrophone surveys.
The leak detection survey will be carried out in association with a full and detailed condition assessment of all pipe fittings along a route and the inspection of local areas where water may run to waste.
Underground Pipeline Services can also offer line stopping and other specialist large diameter contract services.
Pressure Management
Reducing leakage by lowering pressures is the simplest and most immediate way of reducing water loss and demand in the network.
Installing a PRV can make substantial reductions in waste and in the majority of cases is self-financing with the offset of treated water delivery costs. In addition to the reduced leakage losses savings may also be realised from reduced pumping frequencies, lower consumptions and fewer burst water mains.
G2C is able to offer a comprehensive programme of assessment, design, installation and maintenance.
An assessment of suitability can be carried out after the completion of both flow and pressure surveys. The surveys will then define the potential for pressure management and identify the associated water reductions with financial benefits.
A standard design process can be implemented and installation is carried out by our specialist group.
Additional outlet control may also be necessary to optimise hydraulic performance which is provided through a range of proportional flow modulation and/or timer control.
Water Audit and Leak Detection
Our service is undertaken by specialist employees whom are focused on providing fast and effective methods to reduce water consumption and achieve a return on investment.
The service may comprise some or all of the following components:
